Abstract EN

Algeria has witnessed an economic instability stemming from a set of variables, mainly the almost olute dependence on oil exports and its impact on oil price volatility ever since the crisis of the 1980's which led to the decline of oil prices and to tragic events.

Another variable is the global crisis which we are still struggling with its consequences till the present day.

However, as we consider thoroughly the historical course of events, we notice that the Algerian government carried out its reform policy in a progressive manner, starting from the 1989 constitution to the present day in an attempt to find out alternative solutions, such as investment in agriculture sector as a result of the weak foreign currency revenues in all the other sectors and the dangerous economic situation pushing the government to enforce some austerity measures which made the ordinary citizen suffer terribly
