The tourism sector plays a very important role in the national economy, it has become an engine of economic growth par excellence in many countries thanks to its share in the GDP, the revenues it generates, the jobs created, and the amount of capital invested.

In this context, this study aims to carry out an analysis and an assessment of the current situation of the tourism sector in Algeria through the exposure of some macroeconomic indicators which allow describing the size and the economic importance of tourism.

Among the main results of this study, it appears that the impact and contribution of tourism activity on Algeria's economic performance indicators is less effective.

In addition, it does not meet the desired objectives.
