The exercise of the ICC 's jurisdiction over the crime of aggression imposes much more restrictive conditions than those applicable to other crimes.

The Security Council has been given the exclusive power to establish the crime, prosecute or suspend the activities of the Court in relation to that crime.

this is a failure in separating the role of the Security Council from that of the Court.

In this article, we will attempt to trace and demonstrate the political control exercised by the U N Security Council over the legal work of the ICC and how that could undermine its independence and threaten its credibility.
