Abstract EN

This paper examines the roles of public spending on the most important areas of social development adopted by the government in order to improve the social and economic conditions of individuals and to meet the requirements of the constantly growing and renewable sources.

The nature of the Algerian economy based on hydrocarbon revenues, which was and still considered as a dilemma for political decision-makers, and the unwillingness of the Algerian state to abandon its social function and thus not to give up public social spending directed at sectors of social development despite the turmoil in the resources of the Algerian state in addition to the widespread corruption.

Henceforth, this study aims at analysing the most important indicators of social development in Algeria and tries to recognize the exact reasons behind the steering wheel social development despite the remarkable efforts of the government through the massive spending, particularly on education health and housing.
