Abstract EN

The purpose of this article is to present an experience of one of the most famous Arab learned intellectuals, Muhammad Abed Al-Jabri, in dealing with the Holy Qur'an in regards of defining, understanding, and interpreting.

The experience is worthy of presenting for the profound knowledge of its conductor about both the Arab Islamic and western philosophy, and his desire to present a renaissance project through a new reading of the Holy Qur'an, a reading that transcends heritage and offers the best alternative as what he saw.

Despite his extensive knowledge and sincerity in his reformist desire, his experience was full of risk-taking, contradiction, and errors.

It was not without merits though, albeit rare.
