We know that dividing a book into chapters is undoubtedly the fastest way to understand it.

Andalusian grammarians have consistently divided their works according to a systematic plan that they usually hided.

however, with the slightest effort it is possible to approach that methodology.

Ibn Asfour-Ishbili was among those who emerged in that field through his book “al-Muqqarib”, which included several grammatical and linguistic topics.

in this paper we will be interested in the grammatical part of his book.

we will focus on answering some questions; such as, what was the method chosen by Ibn Asfour to divide his book into chapters? which criteria did he adopt to set a chapter before the other...?
