Languages aimes to communication, but communication does not take place without mutual understanding, it is not possible to understand without noticing the effect of intonation and tone in the sentence meaning.

if you listen to someone who speaks with wrong accent and intonation, you will know that he is not a native speaker adding to that lack of mastery of the language he speaks.

the wrong position of intonation and tone in words and sentences-in most languages-changes their meaning and thus the significance changes.

this research deals with the issue of intonation and tone because of lack of research about them.

it also provides examples from Arabic, Turkish, French and English languages, and suggests some methods of teaching intonation and tone for students.
