This research aims to study metaphor in order to show its imaginative and aesthetic aspects, as well as its pragmatic dimensions and its argumentative power, which was the basis of different rhetorical forms in our rhetorical heritage and metaphor in particular.

in addition, metaphor was a topic of interest for pragmatics.

as a conclusion, the research found that metaphor and its various forms has different dimensions according to its communicative function.
