Abstract EN

This research aims to introduce the Illustrated dictionary, and determine its place in the modern lexicography, with clarification its features, and set the controls of its construction, , from the definition of this modern lexicon, and showing its beginnings, with the separation from the lexicon, which employs images to explain his entries, then we show some of his models, and then we address the most important functions performed by this dictionary, Finally, we conclude by defining the relationship of this lexicon to various other lexicographic patterns; as it is related to lexicons of words and meanings on the one hand, and the difference between it and the dictionary and encyclopedia on the other hand, with adjust its type in general and specialization.
