Abstract EN

The expansion of the press environment and its extension to computers, and various mobile devices such as smartphones, tablets, and even radio and television after their modernization, have helped to strengthen the position of the Electronic Press in the lives of individuals and groups.

For the first time, the Algerian legislature gives great importance to the Electronic Press under the new Organic Law N°12-05 relating to media, by allocating the full fifth chapter to Electronic Media.

The paper suggests a definition of the term "electronic press", in the light of what the legislator intended within the provisions of this Organic Law, in comparison with its general concept.

This might help to distinguish between the various terms that may overlap with the concept.

with a view to standardize the terminology used by the law and media professionals, and help to define the scope of application of the provisions of this Organic Law, by defining the Electronic Press activity and the category of professionals who are active in this domain.
