Abstract EN
The study addresses one of the most important causes of conflict, past and present, which is the issue of water as it is vital for human and animal life, and an effective influence on the economies of countries, especially those that depend on agriculture and livestock in their economy; and ancient Iraq falls within this classification.
The study was limited to the ancient Babylonian era, as this era witnessed, especially the first part of it, multiple struggles for the existence of more than one political center, and behind these conflicts and wars stood many reasons, and water was one of the most important reasons in those conflicts.
In this study, we tried to review the most prominent conflicts that water was a pivotal cause of, and the consequences of those conflicts.
We also demonstrated the use of water in military tactics and the transportation of soldiers and military equipment as well as their use as a subjugation tool by one party against another.
