Abstract EN

This Research aimed at investigating the relationship between the educational philosophy and the supervisory behavior of the supervisors at the practicum programs in the Jordanian universities, and at exploring this relationship in terms of a number of variables such as educational qualifications and instructional experience.

The participants of this research consisted of all the faculty staff members of the departments of Curriculum and Instruction at the Jordanian Universities in addition to the trainers of the practicum programs who supervise student teachers in different specializations .

The instruments of this research were developed according to Jersin’s and Glickman’s scales for collecting data about the educational philosophy and the supervisory behavior.

The validity and reliability of the instruments were established.

Descriptive and analytical statistics such as frequencies, percentages, and χ2 square were used for describing and analyzing data.

The results indicated that (78%) of the supervisors were identified as having educational philosophy and that most of them believed in the exmperimental philosophy.

The research results revealed that there was no significant relationship at the level of (a ≤ 0.05) between the educational philosphosy and the supervisory behavior they practice.

The research also showed that there was a significant relationship between the educational philosophy and the educational qualification of the supervisors.

However, there was no such relationship between the supervisory behavior and the instructional experience.

Finally, the research recommended adopting staff development programs to raise supervisors’ awareness of the effect of the educational philosophy on the supervisory practices
