Abstract EN

This study aims to reveal the competencies needed by the Palestinian private labor market, and to examine the extent to which the graduates from the Palestinian universities have these competencies, thereafter to judge if a gap is present between them or they are in harmony.

A questionnaire was designed for this purpose, and was distributed to a sample selected using stratified - cluster sampling technique, which was distributed to 103 graduates from the Palestinian universities in the fields of business administration, and information technology who worked in 13 private sector establishments (banks, insurance companies, telecommunication companies, and IT companies) which were selected using stratified -proportional to size-random sampling method from 37 private sector organizations with 493 university graduates.

Descriptive and deductive statistical techniques were used in the analysis of the graduates' answers related to 36 skills, in addition to other relevant variables.

The results showed a mismatch and a significant difference between the competencies acquired before graduation from universities and the required competencies in the Palestinian labor market.
