Despite the enormous food production resources of the Arab world and the enormous livestock resources available to it alongside its efforts to enhance the process of food safety, the Arab world remains partially a food deficit zone, as it has been unable to meet the growing needs for basic food commodities, such as cereals, sugar, legumes and meet, which has negatively affected the level of nutrition in some Arab countries, unlike food products for which it has competitive advantages such as vegetables, fruits and fish on which the Arab world has achieved high levels of self-sufficiency.
