Abstract EN

Airports play a central role in economic and social development which leads to developing ways to manage them in order to ensure self-financing, structures modernization and operating expenses rationalization.

Good governance, as a tool for enhancing performance and efficiency in the airport sector, can be a source of value creation by putting an end to the public sector inability to reduce expenses, increasing productivity gains and thus achieving a development which is more effective and less expensive.

Based on the European Union program for airports reform and development, this research aims to highlight the role of airport governance in creating value and improving performance indicators as well as the available mechanisms in the application of good governance in Algerian airports.

Reforming the legal system at airports paves the way for the private sector to contribute to improving quality and overall performance by controlling the legislative and institutional framework.
