Abstract EN
The efficient theory and the behavioral finance are the two main fundamental paradigms for examining the state of financial market’s health.
Starting from this premise, we were interested to examin of the Algerian stock market through a study involving the autocorrelation coefficient test developed by Ljung-Box (1978) and the Granger bivariate causality test (1965).
The results obtained show that the prices of the DZAIRINDEX market index suffer from significant serial autocorrelations for practically the entire study period, reflecting the absence of a random walk process in the series.
The Algerian equity market is therefore inefficient at the weak form.
This inefficiency could be the result of the overconfidence bias that we have found in the behavior of investors operating in the Algerian stock market.
