The housing sector occupies great importance in view of not only its economic and developmental implications, but to a greater degree because of its large social repercussions at the level of society, which made most of the countries of the world attach great importance to it, and despite the fact that the majority of developing countries suffer from the housing crisis, each country remains its distinctive characteristics, and seeks This study presents the Algerian experience in the field of solving the housing crisis, starting from addressing a number of its causes, and the extent of its success in reducing this crisis.

The study showed that the country’s policy of increasing the supply to meet demand, although it significantly contributed in reducing the difference from a deficit of more than 3 million homes in 2000 to less than half a million years in 2020, but this gap cannot be completely closed without taking into consideration its causes.

Among the most prominent reasons that the study reached is that the procedures for distributing housing instead of limiting the crisis increased in severity, so allocating a share to single adults, which contributed to the high rate of marriage, which in turn contributed to the increase in the population, which reflected negatively on increasing demand.
