This article aims tohighlight the latest trends in distance learning, called Massive Open Online Courses,as an alternative to the traditional methods of learning.

This alternative offers interactive free courses for all people around the world by using internet.

first, this article presents the most important concepts related to distance learning.

Then, it explains the concept of Massive Open Online Coursesand its international development, by exposing the most Important Arabic and foreignmodels and platforms, Finally, we discuss the most important challenges facing the Arab world in adopting this endeavor, and then proposing a set of measures that must be taken to activate the role of the Massive Open Online Courses in the Arab world and to overcome these difficulties and challenges.
