Abstract EN

There are many fictional images of pre-Islamic poetry that have remained ambiguous and far from being pierced by critical analysis.

Their mysteries remained intact, because of their heterogeneous and disparate nature.

This kind of fictional image had to await the advent of the modern critical revolution, to be able to benefit from the resources of multidisciplinary knowledge in terms of approaches leading to establish the true relation of the image of the animal to its referent, which was long reduced to the Bedouin's connection to its natural environment.

Modern criticism has established a different relation; that of the image of the animal referring to the symbolic and mythical representations produced by existential questionings buried in the collective unconscious, of which the pre-Islamic poet had made the bitter experience, through images that express the confusion and the mystical apprehensions; as is the case with the image of the buffalo and the camel.
