Abstract EN

Since its independence, Algeria has taken care of all segments of society.

The elderly have gained their share of this interest through the institutionalization of the role of older persons.

This study has shed light on the model of one of these roles by revealing the different areas of care provided to its residents.

Our findings show that it is a multi-faceted care (psychosocial, health, social and recreational), in addition to the important legislative system - the retirement and social protection system developed by the government annually in line with international developments, UN recommendations and academic interests, hoping to reach the highest care levels provided at both institutional level or in the family environment, achieving the fulfilment of the elderly's needs according to their characteristics and the problems related with their age.
