Abstract EN

Foreign countries had diplomatic representation in Iraq in order to protect their nationals, and one of the most important of these countries is the British, which practiced this diplomatic representation because of the presence of its nationals in Iraq to manage its affairs and situations Between 1843 and 1916.

The study of the research included two axes: the first axis dealt with British diplomatic representation in Iraq and the places of the headquarters of British diplomacy, with the role of the East India Company to establish headquarters and residences in the province of Iraq, Basra, Baghdad and Mosul.

In the second axis, the relationship between British consuls and the Indian minority was discussed, when was the beginning of British protection of its Indian nationals, the most important incidents against the Indians and the role of the British in protecting it.

The study of the research was based on unpublished Ottoman documents, particularly those relating to the Ottoman archives, the Archives of the Prime Minister of Istanbul (Basbakanlik Osmanli Arsivi), as well as documents of the British Foreign Office kept in the Public Record Office, a copy of which is kept in the Baghdad Library and Documents, as well as other sources and references related to this study.
