The phenomenon of emotional divorce has spread widely in the contemporary Algerian family due to the excessive use of the virtual society, especially Facebook, and this affects the psychological and social state of family members, as most studies have shown that emotional divorce has clear negative effects and is greater than the actual divorce.

Hence, the importance of this topic appears in determining what the virtual community is represented by Facebook and its effects on family social relations in general and the marital relationship in particular.

As this research paper dealt with the topic of Facebook and its role in promoting emotional divorce.

Among the findings that Facebook contributed significantly to increasing the gap between spouses through the decrease in communication and dialogue between them and the dryness of emotion, including the occurrence of the so-called emotional divorce.
