The general guide to water quality is an efficient and simple means of assessing water quality, as it summarizes a large number of water quality data taking into account spatial and temporal changes and converting them into simple terms such as (good or bad) to communicate them to decision makers, administrators and the public in a simple and understandable way.

The study showed that the water quality of the Diwaniyah River during the cold season in all measuring stations falls within the category (Good) in the sense that it is exposed to pollution sometimes and is somewhat far from ideal with values of 91, 81 and 80 respectively, The reason for this is due to the increase in the water discharge of the Diwaniyah River, and then the rise in its level due to the increase in water releases, in addition to the increase of falling rains and the lack of evaporation in this chapter, and this works to reduce concentrations in water quality.

As for the hot season, the water quality of the Diwaniyah River has been classified as an acceptable category (Poor) with values of 78, 74 and 77 respectively, meaning that it is exposed to pollution and avoids idealism, and this weakens its suitability for different uses, due to the low water discharge of the Diwaniyah River due to the widespread use of water, As well as high evaporation rates in this chapter.
