Abstract EN

The current study aimed at identifying the status quo of using the 5Es strategy in the teaching of science among the secondary stage students in Al Qassim region and the obstacles encountered from the viewpoints of the teachers in the light of some variables.

For achieving such objective, the study made use of the descriptive method, and utilized a questionnaire for collecting the study data.

The questionnaire consisted of two dimensions; one of them related to the usage status quo and the other related to the usage obstacles.

The population of the current study included all the Natural Science teachers totaling (720) teachers, in the first semester, during the academic year (1439/1440 A.

The study was delimited to a sample consisting of (237) teachers were divided according to variables (educational qualification, scientific specialization, years of experience in education).

The results of the study showed that the status quo of using the 5Es strategy in teaching Natural Science was average.

The usage obstacles level was also at an average level.

Furthermore, the level of obstacles was relatively higher than the actual usage level.

The results of the study revealed that there are differences in the sample of the study of the reality of use and its constraints due to the qualification variable for the benefit of the two groups of educational qualification Bachelor of Education and Graduate Studies, while there were no differences attributed to the variable of scientific specialization (chemistry, physics, biology), as well as there were no differences attributed Variable number of years of experience in education (less than 5 years, from 5 to less than 10 years, from 10 to less than 15 years, from 15 years and more).

Consequently, the results of the study recommended rehabilitating and training teachers especially those qualified non-educational Bachelor degree and those with limited teaching experiences in the teaching of Natural Science, as well as the need for developing Natural Science curricula in line with the use of modern strategies.
