Abstract EN

The aim of the research is to verify the knowledge of the effectiveness of mental maps in the development of total thinking among sixth graders.

Through the following hypothesis There were no statistically significant differences at the level of (0.05) between the mean scores of the experimental group and the average scores of the control group students in the total thinking scale The second semester of the academic year 2016/2017 was chosen as the fifth unit which included chapters 1, 2 and 3 of the book Principles of Science for the sixth grade of primary school, The experimental sample was composed of two divisions of the sixth grade.

The experimental group consisted of (25) students, which were studied according to mental maps and (b).

The control group represented the number of students ( 25) Tel Iva which studied in accordance with the usual way The measure of total thinking was applied to a sample of 20 subjects.

The scale was presented to a group of experts in the field of science teaching to determine their relevance to the students' levels of scientific accuracy and language formulation Stability was calculated using the Alpha Crumbach equation and the stability coefficient was (87%).

The research reached the following results 1- The method of teaching using the strategy of mental maps increase the effectiveness of students' learning and raise their attention and interests, the development of holistic thinking through the creation of an atmosphere of education filled with fun and excitement and challenge and discussion and promotion and there was a development of thinking fully using mental maps in a positive and large 2- Mind maps provide the opportunity to involve all students at all levels of thinking and achievement.

They increase students' confidence in themselves.

They emphasize the active role of the student in the learning process through their participation in map design 3- the effectiveness of the strategy of mental maps in the development of total thinking because the mental map is similar to the construction within the human mind The research came with some suggestions 1- Study the effectiveness of the use of mental maps in the teaching of science for all classes in the primary stage 2- the effectiveness of the use of mental maps in the development of other thinking skills such as scientific and creative thinking and the trend towards science 3- An analytical study linking the mental maps and the mechanics of the human mind
