The travel text (written text that describes the author’s journey to a distant and foreign place) is varied, as are its modes of presentation of ethnographic subjects and observations of a community in a given period.
This study deals with topics related to the question of “gender” in the lives of women in Yemen in the 1950s, 60s and 70s of the 20th century, in travel narratives.
The narrative by the French doctor “Claudie Fain”, who was in Yemen as an anthropologist as well, tells, according to her friend “France Hoss”, many women’s stories about their suffering.
Life and history are delineatedin a pleasant narrative form with originality in both form and content

Le texte décrit le voyage de l’auteur vers un lieu lointain et étranger les modes de présentation des sujets ethnographiques et des observations d’une communauté dans une période donnée sont divers aussi Cette étude traite des sujets relatifs à la question du “genre” dans la vie des femmes au Yémen dans les années 50, 60 et 70 du XXe siècle, dans des récits de voyage: l’ouvrage du médecin française “Claudie Fain”, qui a été au Yémen comme médecin mais aussi anthropologue, relate d’après son amie “France Hoss” de nombreuses histoires de femmes sur leur souffrance.
La vie et l’histoire y sont rendues dans une forme narrative agréable, avec originalité aussi bien dans la forme que dans le contenu
