Mahmoud Bouzouzou was one of the pioneers of the Islamic Scout Movement in Algeria until he became a general guide for it, and he is considered one of the pioneers of the committed Algerian press through his articles in “Al-Bassayer”, newspaper, then “Al-Manar” magazine, and an active figure in the formation of the national awareness.

His patriotic tances cost him a lot of harm: imprisonment, torture, and exile in 1955.

He immigrated to morocco, then to Europe and settled in Switzerland in 1958, where he was interested in teaching the Arabic language and introducing Islam as a religion and civilization.

He was one of the founders of the Islamic Center in 1961 in Geneva and contributed to the establishment of the Islamic Cultural Foundation in 1975, and he died on 27 September, 2007 at the age of 89 years and was buried in his hometown of Bejaia.
