It is also one of the element of the artistic structure of a poetic text and one of the authentic components of the poem.

Therefore, the contemporary poet attempts to make his poem an interrelated fabric of images interacting with the element of the poetic construction.

For its crucial importance in the poetic work, poets and critics have given it great importance over the different ears.

The study examines the concept of the poetic image amongst the ancient and modern Arab critics, and to trace this concept through different stations.

Finally, the study attempts to illustrate the differences in this concept between the two schools.
