Abstract EN

This article deals with the contacts and initiatives that took place between the leaders.

from the National Liberation Front and others from the Messalist Movement at home and abroad, during the Liberation Revolution (1954-1962), within the framework of reconciliation attempts.

It first refers to the attempt which happened during the first year of the revolution and which aimed at avoiding armed confrontation between the two parties.

Then it examines the second attempt which came after the outbreak of the bloody conflict between the two movements, with a view to stopping bloodshed between the enemy brothers.

Contrary to some studies which see that the relationship between the two movements was nothing but hostile, this study aims at highlighting he efforts made by some leaders of the two movements in order to reunite end unify effort to confront the common enemy and to stop the bloodshed of Algerians.

We have reached conclusions which confirm that the work to reach an agreement between the two movements had been in place since the outbreak of the armed struggle.

This was evidenced by the multiplicity of reconciliation attempts, suggesting that the two partiers realized the seriousness of division over the national issue and the liberation revolution.

However, these contacts failed for several internal and external reasons.
