Lamentation is one of the poetic genres which have been an interest to the poets of Al-Andalus who excelled in their writings due to the tragedies and the bitter experiences that they have witnessed.

The Andalusian Ibn Al- Djinen is considered as one of these poets who chose this genre and whose lamentations were a true expression of his deep sorrow and pain, full of poetic images that outstandingly pictured mourning and despair, and peculiar with its crying rhythms.

This paper tends to explore those aspects taking his poem, in which he laments his father, as a case study.
