The economic situation in Algeria after its independence in 1962 was not an ambitious level.

During the reign of President Houari Boumediene (1965-1978), which is the stage of building the Algerian state, as President Boumedienne began to change the economic situation, by drawing up a national project to rid the country of dependency and underdevelopment and build a prosperous economy.

The existence of the state has been linked to the existence of a strong economy to respond to the aspirations of the people on the one hand and to get rid of foreign dependency on the other.
