Abstract EN

This study aims to assess the contribution of microfinance institutions to the development of Arab economies, primarily as a mechanism for combating poverty, supporting self-employment and financing small businesses.

From this point of view, we have presented the reality of these institutions and the most important obstacles they face during the recent period.

The results of the study indicate that the contribution of microfinance is still limited, given the many challenges it faces, mainly in promoting financial inclusion, the search for modern financing channels, and digital transformation.

As for the opportunities available, we limit them to the adoption of financial reforms and international contribution by the World Bank as well as the Arab Monetary Fund's Arab Initiative.
