Abstract EN

Based on the roles played by social media which include the introduction of various societal issues as well as being a platform for reproducing and publishing of media content whether created by private individuals or by institutions; this study aims to reveal the content approach related to women's empowerment cause uploaded on the participatory videos site "YouTube" , applied on the subject of Saudi women driving.

This is an analytical descriptive study.

The sample of the study was conducted, using a comprehensive inventory method of all the videos uploaded on "YouTube" which reached 200, addressing the topic of Saudi women driving.

The study monitored the related videos for one month after the official royal decree was declared.

The study findings are: •The majority of the "YouTube" videos uploaded after the decree regarding Saudi women driving were local due to the fact that the decree is an internal and local affair of Saudi society in particular.

•"Snapchat" published on "YouTube" surpassed all other types of social media forms that were created by individuals.

This demonstrates how individuals benefited from technology to express themselves and to voice their attitudes.

•Celebrities men and women were the most advocate of women's driving.

The findings of the study strongly emphasize the progress and openness that the Saudi society has achieved and its rapid acceptance of enlightened ideas that aim at promoting development to the country.

A development that cannot take place without the cooperation of everyone, men and women, in support of the state's efforts to crystallize a vision with a brighter future.
