University newspapers are an important means of media marketing in the university environment and even in the community through their ability to spread awareness among students and their effectiveness in achieving media promotion of many national initiatives and projects in various vital fields in many countries of the world, including Saudi Arabia, which is witnessing development in many fields, especially in the tourism, is in line with the 2030 vision of the Kingdom.

In this context, the city of "Abha" in the "Assir" region of Saudi Arabia has experienced in recent years a great development in the field of tourism, which has been accompanied by a distinctive activity for the newspaper "Aafaq" of King Khalid University, which seeks to provide a media product that responds to the aspirations of its readers within the University and beyond in this area of tourism.

This study comes to highlight the role of university newspapers through the analysis of the content of the Newspaper "Aafaq" of King Khalid University in spreading tourism awareness in the university center and the Saudi society in "Abha" city and "Asir" region.

The remarkable results which were found at the end of the study, includes the following: 1-"Aafaq" newspaper publishes a special issue on tourism in "Asir" during the summer holidays for students coincides with the beginning of the tourism season in the region, which shows the great interest given by the strategy of the newspaper and King Khalid University to support tourism development in the region .

2-"Aafaq" newspaper contributes in the promotion of tourism awareness in " Asir" region through promoting the contents directed by the press coverage of various tourist activities such as festivals and events, which contributes in the development of tourism and the spread of culture through the Saudi society.
