Abstract EN

The study aims to shed light on the Egyptian Knowledge Bank (EKB) project, important values of knowledge resources, and monitoring of the activities carried out by the digital library in the new central library at Cairo University to Promote the use of the Knowledge Bank in the academic community, measuring the users awareness about the E-resources / Online Databases available on the knowledge bank, and then provide a proposal to support the use of the Egyptian Knowledge Bank in the academic community and to keep pace with the Technology-based economic growth.

The study is based on case study method and field survey method; it describes the digital library experience in enhancing the cultural awareness of the EKB and its services among the community of users, using a set of data collection tools: questionnaire, personal interview and direct observation.

The study was applied to a random sample of 150 Faculty members, researchers and students in practical and theoretical colleges at Cairo University.

The study reached several conclusions, including: The Egyptian Knowledge Bank is one of the largest national projects concerned with education, sharing knowledge and supporting the building of the Egyptian human in the light of the Sustainable Development Strategy (SDS) (Egypt Vision 2030), there is a lack of experience of some researchers in the use of digital technology including the Knowledge Bank, and the Digital Library of the Central Library carries out activities related to the Publicity and promotion of the EKB and benefit from its services.

The study concludes with a set of recommendations to disseminate Information literacy about the importance of knowledge resources available through the EKB and its role in supporting the Scientific Research at Egypt universities.
