The study at hand aimed at examining the level of the academic and educational preparation for math students and its relationship with their attitudes towards math teaching.

It also sought to find out the differences between academic and educational preparation level and its relation to math teaching by gender and level of study.

The sample for this study comprised 97 respondents from third and fourth level students at Math Department, Faculty of Education, Ibb university.

The key findings from this study are as follows: - Students' achievement in specialization courses was generally low, while their achievement in educational courses was quite high.

- Students' attitudes towards math teaching are insignificant and did not reach acceptance levels There are no significant differences as to students' achievement levels in specialization and educational courses and their attitudes towards math teaching by gender and academic level.

- There are is a highly positive relationship between specialization preparation and educational preparation levels - The findings showed also that the relationship between the level of students' achievement as to specialization preparation courses and their attitudes towards math teaching was a negative one.

- There is likewise a negative relationship between students' achievement in educational preparation courses and their attitudes towards math teaching.

The researcher came up with the following recommendations: - The officials in charge of Math Teacher Preparation Program in Ibb University's Faculty of Education have to review the educational and specialization curricula.

- Those in charge of admissions should make a test to measure students' attitudes towards assuming education career in the future before being admitted into the Faculty of Education in Ibb University.
