Abstract EN

This study aims at studying the relation and determining the Causality direction between the exchange rate and inflation in Algeria during the period 1990-2019, as we used the economic analysis methodology for the development of both exchange rate and inflation variables in Algeria, and we adopted in the applied side a quantitative method to measure the relation between these two variables.

Through the short-term Causality test (Granger test), and the long-term Causality test (Toda and Yamamoto), the study found that inflation in Algeria has a direct relationship with monetary or financial variables (G.

EX) (with a price characteristic) in the short term, while it is indirectly affected by real economy variables (M.

GDP).
