Abstract EN

The objective of this study is to examine the impact of oil price fluctuations on growth, represented by GDP in the Algerian economy during the period 1980-2016, using the methodology of integration, error correction model (ECM) and causality test in order to determine the relationship between the two variables in the long run and the dynamic in the short run, As well as determining which variables cause changes in the other.

Eviews 06 has been used to analyze the study data.

The study found that there is a relationship between the two variables in the long and short term.

The causality test showed a causality relationship from the GDP variable and oil prices.

The results also showed that the price of oil has a great impact on the Algerian economy in general and growth in particular which makes the subject of economic diversification and the search for new financial resources outside the hydrocarbon sector is an urgent necessity.
