This paper aims to discuss the ongoing conflict in the Niger Delta region, which is considered one of the most important regions of Nigeria and an integral part of its territorial integrity.

On this basis, this study examines the main causes of the protracted conflict, its domestic repercussions, especially on the democratic transition, and the country's development process first, and its regional and international repercussions secondly.
