Abstract EN

The period of the French occupation of Algeria was characterized by the consolidation of Algerian-Egyptian cultural and political ties.

This is reflected in the exchange of visits, correspondence, emigration and stability of Algerians to Egypt because of the presence of Al-Azhar as a scientific center, a cultural and religious beacon of light, and the transformation of Cairo after World War II, especially after the establishment of the Arab League.

In order to break the bonds of Algerian-Egyptian communication, the French colonial administration adopted a policy based on preventing the Egyptian press from entering Algeria, restricting pilgrimage to Egypt, complicating immigration procedures and not allowing the establishment of Egyptian cultural institutes in Algeria.
