Security studies are important scientific fields in the international relations field.

The study of security has been the focus of many theoretical efforts of diplomacy and international relations, especially after the First World War.

The field of security studies has been characterized by many dialogues, ranging from defining the concept of security, which has long been a dialectic that has not yet been resolved.

This is due to the fact that security is the most sensitive issue, and it stay the need of all countries, individuals, societies and to build international peace and security.

Therefore, this paper seeks to examine and diagnose the concept of security; to shed light on its dimensions and levels, as well as to expose the controversy raised by this concept, by recognizing the vision of the traditional and critical schools about this concept
