Abstract EN

Christians suffer from many problems, some of these problems are interior (related tothe component) and the others are external problems (out of the component) and bothsignificantly impacted their overall political, social, economic and security conditions, which weakened their political participation in its various forms, whether inrepresentation, election, nomination, and assuming public office, in addition thedeteriorating security situation that Iraq has witnessed since 2003, made Christians aneasy target for armed gangs and extremist groups, which drove large numbers of themto emigrate in a way that threatens the Christian presence in Iraq, therefore the processof empowering them politically became a very important necessity, especially after thepolitical change that Iraq witnessed, which should be moved from a dictatorial regime toa democratic system that is based on the principle of majority rule while respecting theminority rights, but this process (political empowerment) is complex and difficult andrequires providing several mechanisms and concerted societal and governmental effortsto enhance their participation and empower them politically.
