English Abstract

This study was conducted in one of the greenhouses of the College of Agricultural Engineering Sciences, University of Baghdad / fields of scientific departments on 9/15/2016 to 2/6/2017 to study the sensitivity test of 11 species of wild tomato obtained from the genetic origins of tomato in America Resource Center (TGRC) for susceptibility to rootworms Meloidogyne spp.

In addition to the two types of tomato Rutgers and Super Marmande sensitive to worms as a comparison, by studying the number of infiltrating juveniles in the root and females inside the root, the number of eggs, the number of males and juveniles in the soil, the guide of the nodes and the breeding factor.

The results of the experiment showed that there were significant differences between plants in terms of the number of females inside the root, as the Rutgers variety outperformed the rest of the species by registering the highest number of females as it reached 54.33, followed by the Super Marmande class which recorded 34.00 female / root, while the results of preparing juveniles inside the root showed that there were significant differences between Commercial varieties and wild species, as the wild species matched significantly by registering the lowest number of adolescents, but they differed significantly from the commercial varieties Rutgers and Super Marmande.

If not There are significant differences between wild species in some of these characteristics among themselves, but they differed significantly with commercial varieties.

The results of detection of the presence of the Mi1.2 resistance gene in wild and commercial tomato types based on molecular methods showed that the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) technique was used when using the REX-1 initiator to detect the Mi1.2 resistance gene carried on a chromosome.

6 In wild and commercial tomato, the results indicated the presence of the Mi1.2 resistance gene in the form of the prevalent Homozygous (Mi / Mi) alleles in some wild species, as well as the presence of the gene in the form of Heterozygous (Mi / mi) alleles in other species while the species was recorded.

Homozygous susceptible recessive alleles (mi / mi).

The results of crossbreeding showed the success of crossbreeding in a number of species and its lack of success in others when adopting wild species as fathers and commercial varieties as mothers.

The same initiator previously mentioned was used to detect the presence of the Mi1.2 resistance gene in plants obtained through the traditional crossbreeding process.

The sensitivity of tomato hybrids to root worms was also tested by calculating the number of juveniles and females penetrating the root on the number of eggs, the number of males and juveniles in the soil, the guide to the nodes and the breeding factor.

The results showed significant differences between hybrids
