Abstract EN

This research deals with divorce as a social phenomenon.

It mainly focuses on understanding its causes and consequences on the family and society as a whole.

In view of the background literature on divorce in the Arab World in general and the Emirates' society in particular, this work attempts to show how globalization affects the traditional role of the Arab family, thus leading to the increase of divorce.

Given the negative implications of divorce on both the individual as well as society, this work suggests some measures to decrease the spread of such phenomenon in the Arab and Islamic societies in general and the UAE in particular ■
