Abstract EN

This study aims to highlight the main contemporary trends in futuristic studies from a sociological perspective.

In doing so, the study analyses these trends on three levels: 1i a structural level, which is concerned with exploring the societal conditions that create the objective needs for futuristic studies; 2) a historical level, which is concerned with exploring the interaction between societal transformations and cpistemoiogical developments that are taking place in futuristic studies; and 3) an eptstemological level, which is concerned with exploring the role of structural transformations in changing the paradigm—or bringing about a 'paradigm shift*— in futuristic studies whereby future certainty changes to future uncertainty ■
