Abstract EN

The present study aims at exploring the theoretical bases of the scientific research indicators in the light of contemporary educational literature, analyzing the scientific research indicators at the University of Majmaah, and formulating proposed scenarios for improving those indicators.

The study is based on the descriptive method, besides using one of the future methods, which is the scenario planning.

The study is based on statistical data for the three years (2015: 2017) and compared the results of some universities at the national level,
The most prominent results of the study showed that the University of Majmaah has paid good attention to
scientific research by adopting strategic plans to activate its role in scientific research.

In its first strategic plan, which ended in 2015, and its second plan, which will end in 2020, one of its strategic directions was devoted to scientific research To "promote the qualitative value of scientific research and innovation in accordance with development priorities".

The University also applied a system of performance indicators, which reached 89 indicators to evaluate many elements and variables, while scientific research is evaluated by 9 indicators with specific targets and clear descriptions.

The results of the study proposed two scenarios (the reform scenario and the creative scenario) which have logical assumptions and implications for scientific research
