The current research aims at: Evaluating the content of the assigned reading course for fist year preparatory students in the light of the productive mental habits.

To achieve this aim, the researcher sought to answer the following questions: 1- What are the productive mental habits that should be available in the content of the reading course that is assigned for the preparatory stage students? 2- To what are the productive mental habits available in the content of the reading course that is assigned for the preparatory stage? 3- What is the suggested outline of the content of the assigned reading course for the preparatory stage in the light of the productive mental habits? Answering such questions required a theoretical review of the research, studies and literature that are relevant to the current research to achieve a theoretical basis for evaluating the content and to develop a list of the productive mental habits to be met in the reading content for the first year preparatory students and to develop a checklist for content analysis that is based on the achieved productive mental habits and to prepare a suggested outline in light of the productive mental habits.

Statistical analysis was carried out.

The following results were obtained: • The lack of availability of habits of the productive mental habits in the content of the reading course that is assigned for the first year preparatory students.

This means that there is a lack of including such productive mental habits in such a content.

• There is a high stability coefficient of the analysis as a whole.

The value of (t) of the total is 98.34 % , which is a good indicator of the stability of the analysis as a whole.

• Preparing of a suggested outline of the content the of reading course that is assigned for the preparatory stage in light of the mental productive habits.
