Abstract EN

This research has attempted to analyse and compare the story of Antarah Ibn Shaddad based on three general resources: his poetry, literature books, and traditional biographical stories.

The research has aimed to achieve three main objectives; namely, i) explore the bases of traditional characterisation in the collective memory, ii) distinguish between what is fictional and real in the biography of a well-known Arabic figure, whom has been frequently a subject of anecdotes and narrations, and iii) apply methodologies to conduct research methods to explore these resources that depicted his character and story.

The research has adopted historical research design for this particularly study, in order to verify, and synthesise evidence to establish facts based on narrative studies.

As a result, this approach has aided to understand and recognise the vision and structure of the texts that built the character of Antarah and his stories.
