Abstract EN

This study investigated the influence of hurricanes, rain and floods on the coasts of Socotra Island and Hadhramout.

It tackled the geomorphology of the area and its role in the increase of floods.

It also dealt with the old and modern climatic history of Hadhramout along with the history of floods in Hadhramout.

The researchers traced the reasons that create hurricanes in the Arabian Sea, the ways these hurricanes are formed and their influence on Socotra Island and the coast of Hadhramout focusing on Cyclone Chapala and Cyclone Megh.

The researchers provided recommendations to avoid the catastrophes caused by these hurricanes, which hit the coasts of South Arabia and provided solutions and suggestions for reducing the destructions and exploiting rainwater, which flows in the sea.
