Abstract EN
The articulateness and eloquence of women have been acknowledged since the pre-Islamic era.
Women composed poetry, prose and narrated Hadith.
Traditional Arab grammarians used citations from women's literary products as linguistic evidence for sound grammaticality judgments on fusha/Arabic in the earliest days of Arabic syntax.
Following the descriptive approach, this analytic study explores the usage of samples of the rhetoric, composition and narrations of women, i.
e.
, poetry, prose and Hadith narrations in support of the (un)grammaticality of Arabic specific syntactic rules in traditional Arabic grammar study.
The study highlights the role of women's linguistic evidence in supporting or in opposition to a specific grammatical judgement in matters of dispute over grammatical rules.
The study also assesses the (un)grammaticality of women's linguistic evidence as exceptions to sound grammatical rules on the basis of scarcity or necessity.
The study manifests that women's role enriched and influenced Arabic grammar study to the extent that some grammar rules were based on one linguistic sample given by a woman.
